August was a busy month for Special Piping Materials sponsored Race horse Super Duplex; it won at both Epsom and Windsor!
Super Duplex won first at Windsor on the 9th and then at Epsom on the 12th. The Racing Post commented:
“The three-year-old’s success delighted Les Buckley of owners Special Piping Materials (not a lot of people know this, but Super Duplex is a type of Stainless steel used underwater in the gas and oil industry, who said “We are down from Cheshire and we were at Windsor on Monday and here we are again today. Two wins in a week is very nice. He’ll probably have a break now.”
Let’s hope he doesn’t have too long a break and gets some more wins soon!

It has been an exciting week at SPM USA with the delivery of our first inventory shipment of Duplex S31803 (2205) & Super Duplex S32750 (2507). As Stockist around the world are trimming their inventory, SPM is increasing their presence with stock now located in five different countries. SPM USA is moving fast and effectively to increase our market share in North America & Central America by utilizing trade shows such as Oil Technology Conference in Houston, Texas and the Global Petroleum Show this upcoming June in Calgary, Alberta Canada.

Before the race
We are proud to announce that 4 employees of the UK branch of SPM have completed the Great Manchester Run on Sunday 16th May. All entrants completed the 10km run in great times with no casualties and have now almost recovered!
Each person was running for their selected Charities. Paul for Macmillan, Dawn for Alzheimer’s, Natalie for Christies and Alex for Sue Ryder Care
Altogether they managed to raise over £1000 for their respective charities

This decision allows SPM to service & support local fabricators & contractors in the Oil, Gas & Chemical sector with quick deliveries and hands on service. In addition to our newly acquired space SPM USA has invested in a state of the arts software package. This procurement system allows us to manage the entire supply chain using real time data availability allowing SPM to provide current information and updates to our customers.

SPM is now stocking pipes, fittings and flanges in ALLOY 825 and ALLOY 625.
Manufactured in Europe we are stocking sch10s, 40s and 80s / 1/2″ – 12″ NB
The material will meet the full requirements of MESC specs 74/019 and 74/026. Stock will be carried in our Manchester warehouse, and by the end of 2010 stock will also be carried at our other locations worldwide.
Increase in stock of Alloy 825 & Alloy 625
We decided to increase our stock range due to the increase in demand from our market sectors for Alloy 625 and Alloy 825. Our new offices, SPM Dubai has seen a huge interest in Alloy 825 material since it opened earlier this year
SPM’s stock range will now include Stainless Steel (316/L), Duplex (S31803 / F51 / 2205), Super Duplex (S32760 / S32750 / 2507 / F55 / F53), 6% Moly (S31254 / F44) and Nickel Alloys (NO8825 / NO6625).
